About This Spot

San Francisco's newest and most ambitious park — 2 miles of car-free oceanfront along the former Upper Great Highway. Opened April 2025, it's already become a favorite for families biking, walking, scootering, and just hanging out by the ocean. Native dune plantings, interpretive signs about Ohlone history, and wide-open space make it feel like a different city. The largest pedestrianization project in SF history.

Planning Notes

💡

Bring bikes, scooters, or skateboards — 2 miles of flat, car-free pavement is kid paradise. It can get windy and foggy, so layer up. No restrooms along most of the stretch yet, so plan accordingly. The views on clear days are incredible. Great for all ages — babies in strollers, toddlers on trikes, big kids on bikes. Connects to Ocean Beach at the north end.

More Planning Notes

Bring layers - ocean wind can be brutal even on warm days
Best bike/scooter entry points are at Lincoln Boulevard or Sloat Boulevard
No restrooms for most of the 2-mile stretch - use Ocean Beach facilities at north end
Morning visits often have clearer skies before afternoon fog rolls in
Connect to Ocean Beach for sand play and Sutro Baths exploration
Free street parking available along residential streets
