San Francisco Zoo

About This Spot
A 100-acre zoo at the western edge of the city with over 2,000 animals. The Fisher Family Children's Zoo has a nature trail, insect zoo, and barnyard where kids can pet goats. The steam train and historic carousel are toddler favorites. An easy full-day activity.
What to Expect
Parent Tips
Free for SF residents on the first Wednesday of each month. The steam train ($5) is worth every penny for toddlers. Bring lunch β the food inside is overpriced. The penguin feeding at 2:30 PM is the best show.

"The steam train is magical for toddlers - worth the visit just for that. My 3-year-old talks about it for weeks."
