About This Spot
One of the most scenic beaches in SF with dramatic Golden Gate Bridge views. The south end is family-friendly (the north end is clothing-optional — stay south!). Protected from the worst winds by the cliffs. The sand is perfect for building and the waves are gentle near shore.

Parent Tips
Stay at the SOUTH end for family-friendly beach. The water is cold and currents are strong — wading only. Parking fills up fast on sunny weekends — arrive before 10 AM. Bring layers, it gets windy. Fire pits available for evening bonfires (first-come).
